How Much Alcohol in Twisted Tea?

Well... I know it's not about coffee, but you asked and I'm here to answer :-) For many people, there’s nothing better than a cold notalcoholic drink on a hot summer night, am I right? Well, maybe if that beverage were a Twisted Tea, then it might be a little bit better.

Twisted Tea is by far my favorite alcoholic drink to enjoy during the summertime: The hints of mango, peach, and lemon simply cannot be beat.

But—just like with all alcoholic drinks—it may be beneficial to learn more about the exact amount of alcohol that goes into a Twisted Tea before consuming too many of them, as well as how many Twisted Teas is too many.

So, for all of you Twisted Tea lovers out there, the information that follows may be of some use to you before making the decision to have that next drink.

How much Alcohol is in a Twisted Tea?

Rather than the bottle or can having the exact amount of alcohol listed on it, Twisted Tea bottles and cans list a percentage of alcohol. In fact, you will find that this is the case with most alcoholic drinks.

Twisted Teas are commonly sold in 12 ounce cans and bottles, but the alcohol percentage should be the same for both regardless of the size: 5%.

In addition to regular Twisted Teas, there is also a Twisted Tea Light version of the same drink available, which has an alcohol percentage of only 4%.

Can you get Drunk off Twisted Teas, and how much is too much?

As with any alcohol, yes, you can get drunk off Twisted Teas.

You likely will not get drunk off just one or two Twisted Teas since they have a relatively low alcohol percentage when compared to hard liquors such as rum or vodka. However, if you continue to consume them at a steady pace, then you will gradually be taken over by drunkenness.

Perhaps the more appropriate question is this: How many Twisted Teas is too much?

The answer to this question depends entirely upon the person who is consuming the Twisted Teas and factors such as weight, height, sometimes gender, and when the last meal was eaten.

For instance, if you begin drinking Twisted Teas and you haven’t eaten a single thing all day, you are going to get drunk much quicker than a person who ate a full meal consisting of meat, potatoes, and vegetables right before they began having drinks.

Or—another example—a tall, heavyset person will likely be able to drink more Twisted Teas without getting drunk than a short, average weight person simply because of their differences in size.

Regardless of height, weight, size, and gender, it is perhaps best to determine a limit before you begin drinking—say three cans of Twisted Tea—and try to stay within that limit to avoid getting too drunk. Another helpful tip is to drink water between each Twisted Tea to help flush the alcohol through your system quicker.
